Finally, the day has arrived when I could go out and not hear another SF hippie house DJ

IsoleeIsolee tore up the house last night @ Rx. Hanging afterward, I found him quite mild-mannered in a kindly fashion, particularly fond of his brotchen, cheeses and breakfast jams. Ah yes, and his bambi too (check out www.isolee.de).The new Boards of Canada album still disappoints, but these other albums are good:

Sigur Ros — ‘Takk’ (Spectacular)

Naw — ‘Green Nights Orange Days’ (This Canadian ambient/microhouse act would do well with any Kandis, Fehlmann, or Bering fan)

Antipop Consortium — ‘Arrhythmia’ (Perfect antidote to e-overload)

Boom Bip

Boom BipGreat show last night at Bottom of the Hill. It was the perfect venue for their casually intimate, quietly powerful sound: think Mono with an earthier shoegazer feel.

And what an extraordinary stage presence! It felt like the group was completely entranced by the chemistry between each member. This was a far cry from the fan-based energy that seems to fuel the motivation of many electronic acts today, especially in the live setting. Absolutely refreshing.

See y’all @ the Isolee show tonight –
